About the Centre

Celebrating seven years of serving the Southern Yorke Peninsula. Hip, Hip Hooray!

On Wednesday 31st May 2000 The SYP Community Telecentre opened its doors to the community for the first time. The Telecentre was the culmination of hard work by the Yorketown Progress Association aided by the invaluable help of numerous volunteers, with ongoing support of the Regional Development Board.

Since its beginning some seven years ago the centre has grown strongly in the amount of services and facilities it offers.

It provides community access to the internet and online learning, acts as a youth and community centre, business resource centre, training facility and centre for IT in the SYP region. It offers a comprehensive range of services from faxing and photocopying, colour copying and photo inkjet printing, scanning and photo retouching to document binding and folding. We also loan out a range of equipment from Projectors to computers all at minimal cost.

We have a range of printed material to offer visitors as well as having a wealth of knowledge about the local area.

As a regional Agency for Centrelink, Service SA and the ATO we offer a number of convenient services that help the community in many ways. The centre can undertake both Driver Theory Tests and Boat Licence Theory tests as well as offering TAX HELP with the help trained volunteers. We have numerous Government forms and information available as well as being able to verify and fax Centrelink documents to wherever they are required to be sent.

Another important role of the Centre was the establishment and ongoing development and updating of the "Yorke Region Portal". The portal is an extermely popular site that highlights business and service on the Yorke Peninsula. The site is maintained by a qualified graphic designer that can also professionally design your website or redisign your existing site. He also offers the experitise in designing any sort of marketing material from brochures and flyers to logos and business cards.

The Centre is run by the Yorketown Progress Association as a non-profit organisation that depends on the community using its services so it can afford to keep up with the latest technology advances and pass them on to the community.

If you have not visited the Centre before, please call in and say Hi and see just what the centre can offer you. To those that have visted and use the facilities we Thankyou for your continued Support.
